1 Chronicles 28:9-10 NIVUK
9 ‘And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you for ever. 10 Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.’

So reads part of David’s charge to his son Solomon before he was made king. This charge is not a bad one for us to hear as well, even though we may not be destined for the throne! He’s called to be totally devoted and willing, giving himself over completely to God – something I can but aspire to. How willing are you to use every ounce of energy, every thought and every second for him? This is some sacrifice – but we are all willing to make sacrifices for the things that are important to us. If love is not enough, there’s a promised reward here too; if we seek God we will find him. No ifs, buts or maybes.

Father, inspire me through the presence of your Spirit in my life, that I might serve you more fully as David’s son was charged and as his greater son did completely.
