Luke 22:41-44 NIV
[41] He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, [42] “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” [43] An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. [44] And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Jesus knew what was coming. He could have run away, faded into the background and escaped. He could have called on his Father for ten legions of angels to destroy the world and set him free but he did none of these. In spite of the terrible anticipation…..despite the agony of knowing what lay before him……..he accepts that there is no other way to win us back into relationship with God. His love overcomes……and he accepts his fathers will.

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin.
He only could unlock the gate
Of heav’n and let us in.
