Philippians 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Tuesday we thought about how we are called to strive for peace in our relationships. Yesterday we thought about our peace is ultimately a gift from God through Christ and his Spirit. Today’s verse calls us to take seriously God’s love as our Father, the salvation Jesus achieved for us, and the reality of the Spirit with us. If God is who we believe he is, then as Paul encourages us, we needn’t be forceful people seeking to ambitiously assert or demand status, but we can be gentle as we already have and are secure in the highest status available! We also need not be troubled as God is greater than any concerns we might face and in his grace and love will help us to face or overcome them.

As the day begins, let’s bring our concerns to our Father and seek his powerful and gracious support as we face them together.
