Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
Baka was barren, dry, place, and yet as the pilgrims travelled through it, the Psalmist imagined water springing up from the ground and pouring from the sky, bringing life and colour. Here’s the thing, the closer we are to God, the more we will see him at work in us, and more importantly around us, just like these pilgrims. As Jesus declared in John 7:37-38 ‘…Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.’
Draw me close to you Lord so that your life may flow through me.
