Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young –
a place near your altar,
Lord Almighty, my King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.
This is a wonderfully tender image of God’s love for his creation, tucked amongst the eaves of the Temple, the place where he ‘dwelt’ with his people, the birds nest. Creations its home with him. God’s Presence is our true home to, only with him can we find complete contentment; this is why those who dwell in his house praise him.
How amazing then that God’s Son made his home amongst us.
How astonishing that God’s Spirit makes his home within us.
May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you, wherever He may send you.
May He guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm.
May He bring you home rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you.
May He bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
