Psalm 42:7 NIVUK
Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
It’s funny, I’ve always loved this verse but never been fully sure what it’s about – I’d love to hear your ideas!
There’s something in this image of the power of God’s love and being sweeping over us and overwhelming us, a reminder that God is bigger and greater than us and any situation we may be facing.
There’s something here about the deepness of God calling us from our thin self-centred lives to a life of depth and meaning, a three-dimensional life with him.
There’s something here about God’s shaping of us, like the waves shape the coastline.
There’s something here about his permanence and endurance, his forever flowing being, his eternal water.
Call me deeper into you Lord.
