Psalm 24:3-4 NIV
3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.
Moses climbed Mount Sinai to meet with God and the thunder rumbled from the cloud topped mountain.
The high priest was allowed into the Holy of Holies in the heart of the Temple at the top of Mount Zion where God dwelt once a year, and did so with fear and trembling.
Dare we ‘climb the mountain’ to meet with God? Are our thoughts and deeds pure enough? Are we love?
Holy Lord, forgive our failings, the wrong we have done knowingly or unknowingly, and the acts of love we have failed to do. In your grace please create in us a pure heart.
