Psalm 8:1 NIVUK
LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

We know these words so well! On Sunday I preached on the wonderful of what the universe says about God, but that is to come. There is a wonderful little treasure tucked away in this opening verse that we might easily miss if we weren’t being attentive. Did you spot that the opening word is in capitals? This LORD isn’t the same as the one shortly after it. This LORD in capitals is the Jewish way of indicating God’s name without actually writing it down – this name was so precious to them they didn’t want to misuse it or take it in vain. The part of the wonder of this majestic God, their Lord, was that they knew him by name – they had a relationship with him, as do we!

LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
