2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Giving isn’t to be something that is a chore or a duty, God hopes that we will give freely and joyfully, just as he has to us. There’s an incentive too – as we give, God gives back through his various blessings, giving us all we need to do his wonderful work. The more we give, the more we need and so the more we receive!
As a scientist, I see here something we can measure: pray now and try giving something away later. Then watch out for God’s promised provision to you in return.
