John 2:9-10 (NIVUK)
…Then he [the master of the banquet] called the bridegroom aside and said, ‘Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.’

I remember a talk by Mike Pilavachi from Soul Survivor on being generous in obscurity; anyone can be generous when others notice and will commend us for doing so, but how about when no one else is watching? The temptation as the master of the banquet points out is to dish out the cheap plonk once the guests are tipsy and won’t know different, but Jesus gives the best. God does not cut corners, but gives extravagantly even when it isn’t noticed or appreciated!

Thank you Lord for your abundant generosity! Help me to echo that in my life today.
