2 Corinthians 5:20-21 (NIVUK)
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

On Wednesday night Jennifer and I were representatives for the church at the Churches Together meeting, speaking on the church’s behalf in discussions around the joint church activities and plans. In the news recently we have heard of David Cameron speaking on behalf of the country in debates about the future structure of the EU. After this week’s strike, hopefully we will hear of representatives of the junior doctors and Government meeting to discuss how they can come to a resolution about the doctors’ contracts. Possibly more important than any of these tasks, we too are representatives, get this – representatives of God – sent to speak on his behalf with those around us, imploring them to be reconciled to God. What an honour!

Father, help me to speak your good news of reconciliation through Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit today!
