2 Timothy 4:5 (NIVUK)
But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus are letters to two Pastors that Paul has been training in their work. As such they are full of obvious application to those in equivalent posts today. Paul has just been reminding Timothy of the value of the Bible and the importance of teaching it and living it, unlike some who are swayed by the newest fad or fashion. Don’t let your head get turned like them, he warns, keep God’s Word central no matter what’s going on around you because it provides all you need to live a good life. Don’t get bored of it, seeking novelty over truth – in fact tell others about it, get others excited and interested in what it has to offer us, especially about Jesus. Good advice – that was Timothy’s job of course. Thinking about it, though, isn’t it ours as well?…

Thank you Father for your Word that revealed your Son’s love to me. Spirit, write this word on my heart and in my mind. May my love for it overflow today.
