Acts 4:13 (NIVUK)
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

The Gospels are finished and Jesus has ascended to be with his Father, but the story hasn’t ended. Now it is the time for the disciples to take over in Acts, which details the work of the Early Church. The remarkable thing is it is almost as if Jesus were still walking the earth, such are the miracles that take place and the teaching that is heard, originating from this bunch of ordinary people. How could this be? Because these people had encountered Jesus, and through placing their faith in him received the gift of his Spirit. This is not something that is confined to history, but is true today. Place your faith in him, and the same Spirit comes to live in you.

Lord, take me, an ordinary person, and through your Spirit, do extraordinary things through me for you!
