…“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews. [15] But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

Let’s not fall into the temptation of making this an antisemitic statement, but simply note the irony that God sent his Son into the world and that the one group of people who should have recognized him failed to do so. Tragic. We can’t point the finger as now we are part of the same people through him – do we ever do the same?

Forgive us for the times we fail to see and follow either ignorantly or deliberately. Give us eyes to see and hearts to follow.
