Isaiah 53:7 NIV
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

What would Jesus have achieved if he had argued his case and fought back? Trouble? Certainly. Would he have won the argument? Possibly. Would it have achieved anything? Probably not other than lowering himself to his oppressors’ level. His Kingdom is different than the kingdoms of this world, he rules through service and grace not power and might. A more revealing question of Jesus’ trial would be who was really in control – his accusers or him?

In our disagreements and differences this week, help us Lord to exercise self-control and be ministers of grace rather than aggression.
