Nehemiah 2:19-20 NIV
 But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. “What is this you are doing?” they asked. “Are you rebelling against the king?” I answered them by saying, “The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.”
Gods work has always faced opposition, ridicule and attack! Nehemiah gives us the answer – it is God who gives success, who underpins all that we do and who calls us to serve him. He will give us success today!
Lord, open our eyes to your presence with us in the detail of the day so that we are not distracted by those who don’t know you.
Nehemiah 4:1-2,4,6 NIV
 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?………….. Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity……… So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.
When Jesus died everyone thought it was a disastrous end to an amazing life but when he rose from the grave, alive for ever more, what a change!! Trust God and see the amazing end he has in his sights!
Open my eyes that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me,
