A few weeks into looking at Joshua in the mornings, this week we’re revisiting some of those early chapters and reflecting on what they say about God and our calling to follow him.

Reading: Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’

Thought: The Israelites faced a massive challenge, taking the Promised Land for their own, but they didn’t need to be afraid. Why? Because of their strength? Because of their finances? Because of their clever thinking? No, because God was with them and it was him who was telling them to enter.

Prayer: What challenges face us this week on our frontlines*? Lord help us to be aware of your presence with us so that we can find courage to follow.

(*Frontlines = the places/situations where we spend the most time during the week and so are our main areas of working for God)
