This week we return to Abraham…

Reading: Genesis 14:18-20 NIV
[18] Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, [19] and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. [20] And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Thought: Melchizedek is a study on his own but for us today let’s take his reminder of where our help comes from – God, the creator of everything has blessed us and saved us from our enemies – that is such a wonderful promise and statement of faith! In response Abram gives to God a tenth of everything he has – as an acknowledgement of what God has done. Sometimes it’s good to consider – what do we do in response to Gods love and mercy to us?

Prayer: Father God, you are the giver of every good gift and we worship you with everything we have and are.
