Reading: James 2:12-13
12 Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13 because judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgement.
Thought: Ever noticed how we’re quick to condemn or criticise others, but when the finger is pointed at us we squirm and try and wriggled out of trouble? The truth is although some of us do it more spectacularly than others, we all mess up from time to time. If we judge others we judge ourselves and nothing changes. It is far better to show mercy as mercy mends broken relationships rather than reinforcing their division.
Prayer: Think through the day ahead, the people you will meet and the work you’ll have to do. In what ways can you show mercy in these encounters? Forgiving Father, help me show grace in all I do and think and say today.
