Reading: Isaiah 55:1-2 NIV
[1] “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. [2] Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.

Thought: “Come” is a great word! Gods invitation is to every one of us – the poor, the hungry, the tired and sad, the workers, the rich, the messed up and confused – and his word is come! Just as we are, not as we would like to be, and God provides the richest fare – Jesus called it “abundant life”. That invitation must have seemed quite hard to grasp to the children of Israel in exile in a foreign land but God has come among us in Jesus to make sense of it.

Prayer: Lord Jesus we thank you for making it possible for us to come into such a rich relationship with you; help us to pass on your invitation to other hungry people!
