Reading: 35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: ‘Everyone is looking for you!’

38 Jesus replied, ‘Let us go somewhere else – to the nearby villages – so that I can preach there also. That is why I have come.’ 39 So he travelled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Thought: Mark’s Gospel has Jesus rushing from place to place, encounter to encounter. The pace is relentless! I don’t know about you, but when I get busy it is all too easy to put prayer to one side with the ‘promise’ of coming back to it when there’s time. Jesus here shows a different understanding; life is so busy he can’t afford not to pray!

Prayer: Father, forgive me for the times when I don’t make time for you. Help me to put you first at all times.
